In fact , they have just had their best year on record . We caught up with Brock Rodwell , sales director at Ray White Marine to hear about what it is like selling such a niche asset .
How did Ray White Marine come to fruition ?
Ray White Marine evolved from a new boat dealership we had , identifying a gap in the market for a top-tier brokerage firm with international reach and scope , along with a professional marine auction mechanism adapting the successful property model . Ray White was marketing our family house on the Gold Coast at the time which assisted the process ! We also found that we worked with agents on a regular referral basis and should formalise it .
What does a day in your life look like ?
I usually start off early down at the beach for a sunrise run / swim whilst checking my messages from Europe or America overnight pending what deals are on the go . I ' ll head into our Sydney office , see what immediate tasks are due and approve any pending settlements . Typically in the afternoon if I ' m not on a domestic flight , I will have client meetings , listing appointments , or sea trials out on the harbour ( the equivalent of a house inspection or building inspection ). I will take a break , recharge at home or a client dinner then make a few calls to Europe again before hitting the pillow .
What inspired you to get into this industry ?
I have always had a love for being in or around the water , whether it was boating , surfing , or selling . I have always had an affinity to be close to some form of sea ... I ' ve always said I would struggle living in an inland city . I grew up around the industry having owned a large-scale marina and my family had boat dealerships when I was growing up on the Gold Coast which is also a boating mecca .
