JULIE GAUCI

As a woman working in real estate , what advice would you give to other women getting into the field ?
The same advice I give anyone , male or female ; be persistent , effort then reward . Do the work now and expect the rewards in time . When the rewards come , it will be greater than you ever imagined .
Did you have any interesting careers prior to real estate ?
How did you first get into working in real estate ?
I started as a receptionist at the age of 19 after completing an office administration course at TAFE . All I wanted to do at that age was work in an office .
What do you most enjoy about working in real estate ?
I enjoy the many different facets of the industry . Real estate has been good to me throughout the years . It offered entry level work where I could learn the basics and find my feet , flexibility and stability when I was raising my children . Now it offers the income and personal growth that I seek . It ' s a career that grows with you . There ' s something for everyone at every stage of life . Oh , and helping people , I love helping people of course ... isn ' t that what everyone says ?
My only other career was at Maccas . I worked my way up the ranks there too and became a manager . I still have weird dreams where I ’ m back there doing the fries and wrapping the burgers . It was such a fast-paced environment similar to real estate .
Did you have any mentors coming through the industry or previously in your career , and if so , what was the most important thing they taught you ?
I ' ve had and still have great mentors , I ' ve also become a mentor which is just as important . They taught me to trust the process and understand that I don ' t know what I don ' t know . Have faith and trust in those that do know .
What do you think is the key to your success so far ?
Persistence , perseverance , being coachable , letting go to grow , daily task list , AM in PM out , growth mindset , having a vision , setting goals , learning to be comfortable with being uncomfortable are among some .
