Town of Arlington Purchases Former Allen Steel
Property

The Town of Arlington
recently completed the purchase of
18 acres located at 11475 Memphis
-Arlington Road for $891,000.
According to Arlington Mayor
Mike Wissman, the property and
its buildings are slated to become
the future home of Arlington’s
Public Works and Parks and
Recreation Departments.
“We will remodel or
reconfigure the front office space,”
Wissman commented. “Our goal is
to move in completely by late
summer or fall.”
Wissman added that the
current Public Works buildings at
the corner of Airline Road and
Memphis-Arlington Road will be
cleared out and either sold or
leased, depending on the value and
market for the property.

Ed Haley Declines
Millington Position

Fewer than ten days
after accepting the
position of City Manager
with his hometown of
Millington, Arlington
Town Superintendent Ed
Haley has decided to stay
with the Town of
Arlington.
Haley, who has been
with the Town of
Arlington since July
2001, is credited with
overseeing the expansion
of
the
town’s
infrastructure as it has
grown from just over
2,500 in 2000 to almost
12,000 residents. Under
Haley’s supervision,
Arlington has seen the
addition of
improved
roadways, bridges,
walking trails, parks, a
Sports Complex, sewer
and
drainage
improvements and a
community safe room.
Arlington Mayor
Mike
Wissman
commented on Haley’s
decision , saying “we
never wanted to see Ed
leave, but we knew the
offer from his hometown
was enticing.
I am
