(NASDAQ: WMGI). Signing a development contract with the City of Lakeland is the next step in bringing a new workout option to area residents. J. Higbee, Lakeland’s Growth Management Director, comments that the city is “very excited” about the proposed development. “They are regarded as a market leader in the fitness industry. We wanted them in Lakeland,” Higbee added. Floor plans for the Lakeland location include a 25 -yard lap pool, three racquetball courts, an aerobics room, separate cardio, circuittraining, and free weight areas, a spinning studio, and kids club. LA Fitness currently has three facilities in the Nashville area. Higbee stated that the company is looking to open an additional gym elsewhere in the Memphis area.
