AMS STEM Club Team Wins 3rd Place at U of Memphis E-Day The Arlington Middle School STEM Club is proud to announce that club members Nathan Richards (8th grade), Maggie Burnette (7th grade), Cooper Caskey (6th grade), Reuben Hunter (6th grade), and Michael Starks (6th grade) (pictured above, right) placed 3rd in the Flash Building Division at the University of Memphis Engineering Day Competition. Each team had to build a structure out of six 4x6 index cards that could hold the most weight. Their entry, made entirely of index cards, held approximately 225 pounds. Sponsors Magan Thobosi and Jason Reed took 50 STEM Club students to U of M’s E-Day to compete against students from other Mid-South schools in seven different STEM competitions on October 19. AMS Students Make All-West Chorus The following students AMS were selected to perform in the the All-Southwest Junior High Honor Choir (left, center): Saanvi Seth – 6 th chair, soprano 1 Elena Lamica – 10 th chair, soprano 1 Abbi England – 16 th chair, soprano 2 Ella McMahon – 19 th chair, soprano 2 Morgan Owens – 20 th chair, alto 1 Kendall Wilkie – 5 th chair, alto 2 Laurie Isgett – 14 th chair, alto 2 Arlington Middle Dance Team Places in Several Competitions On October 20, the AMDT (left), under Coach Brittney Jackson participated in the University of Memphis Dance Competition. The AMDT placed 1st in Junior High Pom and was awarded the prestigious Cheri Ganong Robinson Team Award. The Cheri Ganong Robinson Team Award is personally selected by Cheri and is based on strength, execution, choreography and overall effect of the team’s performance. On November 3, the team placed 3 rd in Junior High Pom Regionals. On November 17, The Arlington Middle Dance Team competed in the TMSAA State Dance Championship and was awarded Runner Up in the Junior High Hip Hop Division. AMS Cheer Team Makes History The AMS Cheerleaders (left) performed in the Mid- South Regionals Competition and made history by winning 1st place in the Large Junior High division.
