Global Studies: Arlington High Junior Connar Foote Selected for Student Exchange Program

By the time you read this article,
Connar Foote will be settled in her
new home and school in Subang
Jaya, Malaysia. The Arlington High
School junior was awarded a full
scholarship to study in the Southeast
Asian country for the next eleven
months.
Sponsored by the U.S.
Department of State’s Bureau of
Educational and Cultural Affairs,
YES Abroad gives 65 American
high school students and recent
graduates full scholarships to

countries with significant Muslim
populations to study for one
academic year.
As a “youth ambassador” of the
United States, Foote will learn
about Malaysian culture and society
by living with a Malaysian family
and attending a local high
school. At the same time, she will
represent her native United States
and promote mutual understanding
and friendship between the two
counties while demonstrating
American society and values.
