Fall 40 Days for life Campaign
starts sept. 15
The 2014 Fall 40 Days for Life Campaign runs Sept. 24 to Nov. 2. According
to Pat Bradley, local representative, “40 Days” is a focused pro-life campaign
that has mobilized over 625,000 people worldwide, saved more than 8,900 lives
from abortion, led to the conversion of 101 abortion workers and has seen 56
abortion facilities close.
Bradley said., “40 Days for Life is made up of three components: prayer and
fasting, peaceful vigil at the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic at 1691 The
Alameda, San Jose and community outreach which promotes a positive prolife message.”
She invites people “to join us for our opening event,” Mon., Sept. 15, 7 pm
at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 15333 Woodard Road, San Jose. A Rosary will
precede a Mass for the Sanctity of Human Life celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop
Thomas A. Daly.
Mass will begin at 7:30 pm followed by a potluck reception in the church hall
with Bishop Daly and fellow pro-lifers. Attendees are invited to bring a salad,
dessert or main dish to share.
At the reception people may sign up for the 24-hour Adoration for the Unborn that will be held from 8 am to 8 am, Sept. 23 to 24, or email Mary Ann at
[email protected] to volunteer for an hour or two to pray for an end
to abortion. Adoration will be held at St. Leo Chapel, 88 Race Street, San Jose.
According to Bradley, on the opening day of the campaign, Sept. 24, there
will be the first Candlelight Procession for Life at 7:30 pm, walking from St. Leo
Church to the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic at 1691 The Alameda, San Jose
where a prayer service will be held.
“Our midway event,” Bradley explained, “will be held at 11 am, Sat., Oct. 11
at St. Leo Church. Bishop Daly will celebrate Mass followed by a Procession of
Life to the abortion clinic for a prayer vigil service. A final event will be held
Nov. 2 at 7:30 pm, with a Candlelight Procession at St. Leo Church.
Bradley invites those “who would like to join us at our daily prayer vigils to
please email Phyllis at [email protected] to sign up.” For more information about
