Salary sacrifice schemes
The University operates and supports
the following schemes, intended to help
suit family circumstances and lifestyle

Childcare nursery vouchers
The University, in conjunction with
Computershare Voucher Services, has
introduced a flexible way to meet the
costs of childcare. Under the scheme,
part of your salary can be ‘sacrificed’ in
exchange for childcare vouchers, which
are flexible and can be used to pay for a
wide range of child care.
Cycle2Work
To encourage more staff to cycle to
work, the University has teamed up with
cycling specialists at Halfords to offer the
Cycle2Work scheme. The scheme is for
employees who want to commute to work
by bicycle and involves ‘sacrificing’ part
of your salary to obtain a new bicycle of
your choice and the appropriate cycling
safety equipment. The scheme opens
for two months each year on 1 May and 1
November.
O2 Open
This employee discount scheme,
operated in conjunction with O2, gives
University employees the opportunity to
gain various rewards including a credit
on your mobile account after 30 days of
connection. You can use the scheme up to
six times per year, so you can share the
benefits with family and friends too.
The Health Scheme
The University supports the cash
plan offered by BHSF Ltd by making
appropriate deductions from your salary
as required. Individuals can join and
choose from a range of benefits and
premium health care options to provide
personal or family cover. For further
