Amelia and Destina are both 4 years old. These precious girls were diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) one-month apart. They were both enrolled on a Children's Oncology Group (COG) research study for ALL. It was only a matter of time before their paths crossed in clinic where they were receiving chemotherapy. At their first meeting, their conversation quickly and causally turned from having the same disease to more important topics like dogs and princesses. Since their meeting, they have each completed the hardest part of their therapy. Amelia and Destine have both had excellent responses to chemotherapy. While they won't finish chemotherapy for another 18 months, they will be able to keep up with their peers in Pre-K. These brave little girls are a great example of friendship forged under fire.
