Iran became a theocracy in 1979 , when the Iranian Revolution resulted in the overthrow of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and establishment of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei as the first Supreme Leader of Iran . knowledge and , essentially , a new religion . This is evidence enough to prove Imam Mehdi ’ s purpose of coming into the world is completely contrary to what Iran projects .
What Iran is posing as a threat is unreal . Their apocalyptic messianic figure will never come , because their version of Imam Mehdi simply does not exist . They will never be able to destroy either Israel or the United States of America .

After the 1979 revolution , tenets of Shi ’ ite Islam were given great importance by the government . Iran has made Shi ’ ite Islam ’ s eschatology a part of their foreign policy , which is extremely dangerous given that Iran has nuclear weapons .
Shi ’ ites of the Twelver Shi ’ ite Islam sect believe that Imam Mehdi is the son of Imam Hasan Al-Askari , who was born in 869 , disappeared , and is destined to return .
Iranian officials see the United States of America as ‘ The Great Satan ’ and Israel as ‘ The Little Satan ,’ who their Imam Mehdi will destroy .
Their warped concept of Imam Mehdi as a political leader who will lead Iran to world domination has caused the West to see Imam Mehdi as a threat to world peace .
