MEET THE OFFICERS
EDITOR
Meet our 2016-17 Editor, Vivian Tang, from Fairview High School
The Torch: What first sparked your interest in JCL?
VT: When I heard about this organization completely comprised of people that enjoy Latin and/or Greek as much as I do, I just knew that I had to join and check it out. Ever since going to my first state convention, I’ve just been hooked.
The Torch: What are your goals this year for the COJCL?
VT: My biggest goal this year for the COJCL would definitely have to be to get a state delegation up and running at Nationals this upcoming year in Alabama (July 2017). I went to Nationals this past year (July 2016), and, not only was the sole person from Colorado, but also the first person to come from Colorado in many years. I’m hoping that some of you will decide to join me and represent our amazing state together next year! Please feel free to email or talk to me (editor@coloradojcl.org) about any questions regarding Nationals! Expect a prompt and enthusiastic reply from me!

The Torch: What are you most excited for this upcoming year (JCL-wise)?
VT: Most definitely state convention. It’s just so much fun when everyone that takes Latin from around the state gets to congregate together for a couple of days and just have fun.
The Torch: Favorite Latin quote/motto?
VT: I’d have to go with “Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero” by Horace. It just really speaks to me and I try to follow the advice that it gives. A close second would have to be “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes” as said by Juvenal. I’m not sure, I just really like thinking about it.
The Torch: Any quirky or interesting facts about yourself, hobbies, relations, etc. that you would like to share?
VT: My rabbit is kind of insta-famous. Whenever I tell people about it, they never seem to get over it, so I guess that counts as a weird and quirky and interesting fact. It’s @lulubunnyrabbit on Instagram, for all of you who are wondering now.
