Golf is the pandemic pastime and the MSU Golf Course is reaping the benefits. Whether it started with the university transitioning to virtual classes or companies finding out their employees can be productive when working at home, the COVID-19 pandemic has lead people to the golf course in droves. A slight detour from the norm have those that work in golf excited and embracing the interest in golf that we hope continues for years to come.
Rounds of Golf Report
The MSU Golf Course is supported annually in rounds of golf by students at a number of 55-60% of the total. For the past 10-15 years the golf course has done approximately 12,000-15,000 rounds each year. This trend changed in early 2020 and has worked upward since. Rounds are up nearly 30% to forecast and we reported 24,075 in the last fiscal year. Similar numbers are projected for this fiscal year as we show no signs of slowing down!
Staffing
Adam Scott, PGA came back to Starkville in 2018 to become the Head Golf Professional and since his return things have turned for the better. With Jeff Adkerson, PGA moving on to lead the Golf House of Kentucky, there was an opening to lead the golf operations and PGA Golf Management Program at MSU.
