will only ever be able to go as large as it was

4. JPG vs PNG
JPGs are never going to include transparency. You need to make sure that your designer provides you with a PNG of your image(s)
that places your image(s) on a transparent
background (if applicable).
When you browse PNG images, you may see
a gray-and-white checkered background.
That means that area is transparent.
5. DPI And Why You Should Care
3. Different Designers Offer
Different Terms
Some designers will not under any circumstance allow you to purchase the original Illustrator or Photoshop file. Some designers
include it.
Some designers only provide you with the
final image in tact. Some designers will provide you the different elements of the design
for your creative needs.
Some designers will not allow you to edit
the design at all. Some designers do.
Some designers require that you use them
for any social media banners/profiles/headers that you need to create using your new
image. Some designers don’t.
Some designers require that they be given
credit on your website or publication. Some
designers don’t.
Some designers will charge $150. Some designers will charge $300 or more for the exact same thing.

ones) require 300 DPI. You need to make
sure that your designer provides you with the
300 DPI graphics. It can be scaled DOWN
and resized without loss of quality, but,
(without getting into math here), let’s just
suffice it to say that you can seldom go from
72 DPI to 300 DPI while maintaining quality.
(If you are just a glutton for information
punishment then read this:
“Converting the image from 72 DPI to 300
DPI will reduce the overall size of the image
to just over 1/18 of the original size. If the
image is big enough to be reduced by that
much then there is no problem. If reducing
the image by that much makes it too smal,
then the image can’t be converted.” -- Stephen Chapman)
6. Submitting To A Publication
When you are asked to submit graphics to a
publication (such as this one), you need to
send them your 300 dpi files on a transpartwitter
