If you are a control freak, do your designer a favor and tell her that upfront. By nature, a designer designs. If you just want her to exactly replicate an idea that you have in your mind, then that is completely different than asking someone to design a graphic for you. When a client becomes too overbearing, I will withdraw from the project. No amount of money is worth being micro-managed, while having my creativity and my design sense stifled. Don’t be a tiger client! 8. Be A Good Client Designers talk amongst themselves. Don’t get on the “She’s crazy. Stay the heck away from her!” designers’ list. And, yes, it really does exist. When you launch your product, give your designer a little shout out. Most of us work by word-of-mouth only. We enjoy sharing your projects and also enjoy having our name shared in return. 9. Fonts Not all fonts are licensed for commercial use. You can’t just use any font that you facebook 20 want. Commercial-use licenses need to be researched. I see that “great” font everywhere. And I cringe. It’s not great anymore. It’s haunting me. I see Papyrus. Don’t be a font-overuser. Spend a few dollars (after talking to your designer, of course) and find a font that is as unique and as original as you are. Or at least a really cute, underused one. I see dead people wearing t-shirts with something written in the Papyrus font on them. 10. Color Palettes You can not just tell your designer that you want to use pink and blue.
