BIG Q! Big Q Gives In and Agrees to An Interview Dear Big Q, Is it possible for the editor of this magazine to do a feature on you, Big Q? I want to learn more about who you are? Where you are from? Are you married? Got a girlfriend? I have asked questions before, but they were never printed. Let’s see if the editors print this one. (Waterloo, IA) ~ Spill It Dear Spill It, I apologize for not responding to any questions that you may have wanted to know about me. I had no idea that anyone would want to know my story or who I am. After talking to the publisher of the magazine, she has suggested that we move forward with doing a feature about me and what I have going on outside of writing for The Soultown. So in the next couple of months, we will be working on putting together a feature that explains who “Big Q” really is and what I have going on in my personal life. Make sure that you read it though because I plan on making it juicy. Please email any other questions that you would like me to address and I will make sure to include the answers in the feature. Thank you for your patience sweetheart. Enjoy your day. ~ Big Q --------------------------------- Dear Big Q, My girl and I make about the same amount of money, but she expects me to pay the majority of the bills. How do I communicate to her that this expectation isn’t realistic or right? (San Francisco, CA) ~ I Just Want 2B Equal I Just Want 2B Equal, Show her your check stub bro! This is a --------------------------------- Dear Big Q, I hear you’re from Chicago, how did you get out? I want to get out. I feel like all of the girls are the same here and I want to meet new people, new girls and learn new things. I’m still in high school, but I feel kinda trapped here. How did you survive in Chicago and how did you get out? (Chicago) ~ Chi-Town BIG Q Male Advice Columnist ----------------------------------------------- Learn more about Big Q’s advice at http://www.thesoultown.com/big-q-.html Email Me: [email protected] problem that simple mathematics should be able to take care of. If both of you make about the same amount of money then she should be open to splitting the bills more evenly so that you don’t end up being broke every month after the bills are paid. If I were you I would sit down with her and compare my check stub to her check stub and explain to her that I need more help paying the bills. Sometimes women do want men that can take care of them and pay all the bills, but in your situation, the math simply doesn’t add up. So all you can do is just tell the truth and crunch the numbers so that she can fully understand exactly how much the bills cost and what you are spending each month. I think once you break everything down to her she will be willing to help a little bit more. Her help probably won’t be half of the bills, but for now, take what you can get and keep working on it. Good luck Bro. ~ Big Q Dear Chi-Town, Yes, I am originally from Chicago and proud of it. My entire family still lives there, so I get to go regularly and hang out. Currently, the city is a very dangerous place for a young man, especially if you are African-American. So if you fit that description, please be careful and make sure you watch your moves. To answer your question though, I got out of Chicago because my mom sent me to live with my grandmother out of town. If it wasn’t for her, there is no telling where I would be today, because I was going down the wrong path. The only reason that I survived Chicago is because of my family and loved ones. They always made sure that I was on the right track and stayed focused. My advice to you is that if you want to leave Chicago and meet new people then you need to get good grades in high school and apply for colleges around the nation. See which ones will accept you and go live there while you attend school. This is an excellent opportunity for you to get out of Chicago, while at the same time securing your future. Good luck bro and be safe out there. ~ Big Q , Sept. 2019 • The Soultown International Magazine • Celebrating 2 years • Connecting Our Cultures to Our Cyber & Conscious Communities • thesoultown.com 24
