The Conservatory has hosted several international symposia including Performers (‘) Present ( four iterations since 2009 ) and Mathemusical Conversations ( 2015 ), providing a gathering place as well as presentation and publishing platform for Conservatory and international scholars alike .

The inner circle of our logo symbolises YST positioned in Singapore as the centre of gravity for art music , as part of the nation ’ s Renaissance City vision of being a distinctive global city of the arts . The moving lines formed depict ripples of change , reflecting the powerful interactions resonating from the Conservatory to the rest of the contemporary world , as represented by the outer circle .
With passion as a motivating force for the pursuit of excellence , we seek to develop musicians who continually explore new possibilities and give music greater resonance – from our Conservatory ’ s walls outwards to NUS , Singapore , and beyond .– in inspiring this evolution .
Campus Life
NUS bears a rich history , beginning as a medical college with 23 students established in 1905 . Today , it is one of Asia ’ s leading universities with over 38,000 students across three campuses in Kent Ridge , Bukit Timah and Outram . A leading global university centred in Asia , NUS is widely respected as a dynamic and innovative institution and a pioneer of new approaches in education , research and enterprise . To that end , the university holds rich offerings in the arts , humanities , sciences , engineering and social sciences , from undergraduate through to the doctoral level .
Throughout their studies at YST , undergraduates live within NUS , supported by a generous housing allowance . In addition , YST students take NUS classes outside of the Conservatory as part of degree requirements and can partake in the university ’ s broader academic offerings ( e . g . double majors ), gaining wider exposure to different fields of study . At a larger level , students enjoy the vibrancy of being connected to the NUS ecosystem while studying at YST .
As a member of the NUS community , we provide musical opportunities to NUS students and its community through our classes and degree offerings , events , and partnerships . Alongside our academic majors , minors and modules , the Conservatory presents close to 200 performances and public events annually , and hosts over 100 events by community partners in our facilities .
