Eventually Fizzled Out

The mark of a great artist is their consistency over a long period where they innovative and experiment with different music genres and styles . These artists , though very gifted , were only able to produce one super hit song and have eventually faded into oblivion .
Chumbawamba , ‘ Tubthumping ’ This song was massively popular in the 1990s , topping the charts in many countries , and its music video was regularly played on MTV . The mediocre lyrics , which were repeated throughout the song , did have a nice tune and catchy vocals , but this alone could not save the musical career of the band , as this became their only hit .
Gotye , ‘ Somebody That I Used To Know ’ A one-hit wonder list is complete by none other than Gotye , whose insanely popular song ‘ Somebody That I Used To Know ’ got over a billion views on YouTube and swept all the major awards the year it was released , including the coveted Grammy Record of the Year ’. Unfortunately , now Gotye has become somebody that we used to know .
Magic !, ‘ Rude ’ Spreading their magic across the musical world , especially on social media , this Canadian reggae fusion band could not come up with another hit after their song ‘ Rude ’. The lyrics of the song deal with a man confessing his love to his girlfriend ’ s father , who turns him down .
Psy , ‘ Gangnam Style ’ The song is etched in the memory of every Gen Z as it propelled K-Pop to the world stage . ‘ Gangnam Style ’ was one such song that took Psy to global domination as his dance moves were copied by literally everyone . This song got so many views on YouTube that the company had to revamp their software to accommodate such huge traffic . Still , this could not make Psy last too long in the memory of the masses .
Baauer , ‘ Harlem Shake ’ Remember that song on which everyone made a video of staying still and then bursting into a dance when the beat dropped ? Well , the song was indeed ‘ Harlem Shake ’ by Baauer , who saw an overnight success when even celebrities , influencers and sportspersons started to try this trend , which slowly became boring and forgettable afterwards .
Passenger , ‘ Let Her Go ’ Michael Rosenberg ’ s nasal voice in the song ‘ Let Her Go ’ was released as a music solo after the band broke up and was an instant hit . It topped the charts worldwide and dealt with the pain of a breakup . Though it has become a staple breakup ballad , the singer could not emulate the song ’ s success .
Portugal . The Man , ‘ Feel It Still ’ The song still looms large in pop culture with its very interesting lyrics and likeable tune . Portugal . The Man , which is an Alaskan alternative rock band , made this song really likeable and appeared in many commercials , TV shows and movies but sadly could not sustain their success .
Carly Rae Jepsen , ‘ Call Me Maybe ’ When ex-President Barack Obama quotes your song , then , of course , you are the most talked about person in the music industry . This was the case with Carly Rae Jepsen , whose song ‘ Call Me Maybe ’ was as pop as pop can be with cute lyrics and likeable vocals along with a notable catchphrase . However , the song was really cool for some time , until it wasn ’ t , after which the singer was nowhere to be seen .
