The music , till now , has been personal for me . I am learning to share now .
I sit at the piano , I star to write . Sometimes , the tune comes first , sometimes the lyrics comes first and sometimes the emotion drives the whole thing .
It ’ s been very spiritual for me , as an experience . I can ’ t tell you where it comes from , I can ’ t explain what happens . It just does .
I lose tract of time and I am very happy when I am there at that place when all of that happens .
Are you that happy when you are acting ?
With music , the lyrics is mine , the tune is mine , the journey is completely different .
Then , there is an experience in acting where you put skin , bone and soul into a character someone wrote . The responsibility and commitment with honesty towards a charac-ter is a different kind of joy .
Cinema is a process that takes patience to receive the applause . With music , you can feel the celebration , curve of the emotion and then come back down all on your own . With a movie , there are so many things and people that need to come together .
And let ’ s not forget vocal health . How do you keep your voice in shape , especially with such a demanding schedule ?
Practice . Really ! It ’ s just that .
I went to music school where I learnt a few exercises that I swear by like by thyroid stretches and I am a classically trained singer to I do my Mandra Saptak in the morning and I do my Taar Saptak in the evening .
All those basic things I learnt as a teenager , I never let them go .
I listen to people ’ s technique and see how it works for them . See how people find their comfortable register .
I can go on singing many nights in a row , do those shows and come back and do my dubbing all because I learned how to preserve my voice .
Also , I don ’ t drink coffee and alcohol and that helps .
