You clearly choose to create your music across different genres . Tell us a bit about why that is .
The importance of music at an early childhood has led me to apply today what I have absorbed then . Having a musically inclined family where each member had their own taste in genre , meant I was able to consume different genres daily , because everyone played something different .
This multifaceted perception of music is the reason I now frequently attempt to cross genres or merge with pop music to explore and discover new possibilities . It ’ s also a way to challenge myself in expanding and playing with various production elements .
I ’ m also learning to test my audience and risk the comfort of the same old overused melodies . The intent is to develop an international sound that would open global doors for all of us . But , not to forget , my state is rich with undiscovered sounds and I ’ m also working to elevate the rich culture of Meghalaya ’ s own music .
Tell us about your early musical influences . Was it your family ? What kind of music did you grow up listening to ?
As I had mentioned , my early musical influences vary because of my family . I grew up listening to Guns and Roses , Aerosmith , Bon Jovi , Bryan Adams , Fire house , Scorpions , Journey etc because my uncles were in a rock band .
When it came to my father , he owned a mix of cassettes of Elvis , Shania Twain , Eminem , MLTR , Queen , Abba , Boney M ,

Aqua , local gospel music , etc . I slowly progressed to pop culture because of my elder brother who would listen to Backstreet Boys , Blue , Westlife before moving to alternative punk rock bands . I was also heavily influenced by RnB music which led me to find my own sound .
What led you to writing “ Murdah ” at this point ?
‘ Murdah ’ comes from the word murder which sends the message as ‘ killing the beat ’ – giving my utmost effort at achieving excellence and evolving beyond my previous work . It is about clapping back at negative energy , manipulation , distrust , and people who have polluted the meaning and essence of music . It is also a song about personal power , about redefining myself in the music scene ..
If you could pick any musician in the world and have them listen to “ Murdah ”, who would you choose ?
Rather than a musician , I would rather have a record label such as Universal Music Group ! Haha
Till date , what would you say is your greatest success ?
It is knowing that , in the end , I may have brought light and happiness into someone ’ s . Just knowing that one of my songs could turn out to be therapeutic is honestly , my greatest success and the best feeling ever .
Are you working on an album right now ? Any compositions in progress ?
I have released 8 songs this year and I am left with 2 more songs before the year ends . I am currently in the middle of production but the tracks will be out in November before my 2022 Cherry Blossom festival performance .
I have always been releasing singles but this time around , an album will definitely be in my next ‘ to do list ’.
Tell us a bit about your collaborators for the track , VERSIFY XXI & LOUD LADS . How did you start working with them ?
Versify XXI is a 21 year old fresh new rapper entering the hip hop scene with a particularly modern and sophisticated style of rapping .
LOUD LADS started as two brothers who began remixing tracks as a hobby . In an unfortunate event when one brother passed , the other was motivated to push further on and ‘ Murdah ’ was born .
I met Verse through my friend Badbhoi . His only introduction was the way he sounded and I immediately thought he was perfect for the track . On the very next day , he delivered a demo .
As for LoudLads , he communicated with me via emails . As soon as I realized that his potential lay far beyond remixes , I pushed him hard on creating a complete instrumental track . With enough research we began to design my alter-ego .
What do you look for in collaborators ? How do you know you ’ ll be able to work well with someone ?
When I collaborate with another musician , I listen to how their unique sound would complement mine . I look for someone who is able to compose , who is quick with their work , creative , and is
