successful collaboration , and how do you approach working with artists whose styles may be very different from your own ?
It is always a huge learning experience for me to work with artists from around the world . It helps me learn new skills , explore new sounds , keep up to date on technology , and also to learn about their unique cultures . Music is a universal language and can sound extremely beautiful even if we don ’ t understand each other . To be on a similar wavelength when it comes to music creation is extremely important and when that falls into the place , music will flow .
In recent years , there has been a growing interest in Indian classical music and fusion music among international audiences . How do you see this trend evolving , and what opportunities do you think it presents for Indian musicians ?
I am a huge fan of Independent and folk artists in India and I have had the pleasure of collaborating with many of them on my albums . Legends such as Pandit Ravi Shankar , AR Rahman , etc . are always on my playlist . There is a lot more opportunity now for upcoming Independent Indian musicians with access to social media , technology , marketing , etc . There is still a long way to go and I urge upcoming Indian musicians to stay true to themselves and keep working hard without worrying about seeking validation from the film industry . Hard work can compensate for any lack of talent that one might have . I do hope that Indian record labels actively seek and recognise local talent to support their careers .
