GRAMMYS

You have won three Grammy awards across different categories ( two Best New Age Albums , and Best Immersive Audio Album ). Which one ’ s been your favourite and why ?
As an Independent musician from India , I used to feel like winning one Grammy was an unattainable dream and now I have three and it ’ s all still so surreal . I am extremely grateful to have had another opportunity to make my country India proud by achieving this on the biggest platform in the world for music . Each of these Grammy Awards is special to me in its own way and I am extremely grateful for the global recognition .
Winning a Grammy award is a huge achievement in itself , but winning it multiple times is definitely rare . What do you think sets your music apart and makes it resonate with audiences around the world ? Do you have a secret recipe ?
I have always considered my music to be cross-cultural while maintaining strong Indian roots at the same time . It is extremely fluid . I love discovering new global sounds and incorporating these soundscapes into my music . Over the years , I have collaborated with Native American Flute players , Tibetan Monks , Gaelic , Hebrew , and South African Choirs , Musicians from Turkey , Senegal , and Azerbaijan , Koto players from Japan , Maori musicians and so much more .
It is an extremely fulfilling experience to bring all these different cultures , traditions , and people together through the universal language of music for the sole purpose of environmental consciousness .
You have said that music is a powerful tool for raising awareness about environmental issues . How has winning Grammy awards for your environmentally-themed music impacted your ability to raise awareness and create positive change ?
In order to make a tangible difference in the world through my music and address global issues like climate change , I
cannot rest on my laurels . I consider every award to be a recognition and a platform . I am grateful , and never take awards for granted . If awards are used just for vanity , it ’ s pointless . Using awards for the greater good is what matters to me . My aim is and has always been to do all I can , in every way I can , to make this world a better place , for everyone and everything .. and winning the Grammy award thrice has definitely enabled me to take this further .
