Scotland 8 - 10 Iroquois National

With the Nationals the clear favourites going into this Quarter-final match-up many were shocked when Scotland gave an outstanding performance in what was a gritty game.

Sadly, Scotland were unable to overcome the lacrosse superpower as they pulled out a narrow 10-8 win to advance to the semifinals.

In their own report the Nationals admitted they "had to overcome one of the best goaltender performances of the tournament, as Scotland’s Dean Stewart also turned away 12 stops, including an breathtaking save on Zach Miller late in the game."

Scotland 10 - 9 (OT) Japan

This was to be Scotland's toughest game of the tournament facing up against a well drilled Japan squad which Scotland previously held up as a template of great teamwork.

Scotland saw themselves go down 4-2 in the 1st quarter before winning the 2nd quarter by the same scoreline. While both teams showcased world class lacrosse neither could exploit the other and this resulted in a stalemate for the remainder of the match and 1st period of overtime.

In the end it was Scotland's stand-out player Jimmy McBride was able to get the game winning goal, knocking Japan out of the top six and cementing Scotland in the Blue Division for the 2018 Championships.

Scotland 13 - 15 England

The closing day of the World Lacrosse Games set up one of the oldest rivalries - Scotland versus the Auld Enemy.

In the past this fixture has usually been one to avoid for Scottish lacrosse fans as their last match saw the Scots defeated 23 - 9. However, with an impressive run of victories by the Scots and a poor start to the tournament by England, many began to dream of an upset. England quickly rallied to a 4 goal lead leaving a lot of work for the Scots to do.

By the 4th quarter England had all but sealed their win as they led 13-8. Scotland dug deep and found the strength to mount a comeback, going on a 5-2 run to ensure the a fret finale. In the end the experience and depth of the English were just too much for the Scots.

While a win over their biggest rivals would have been the cherry on the cake having already secured their place in the top division the defeat didn't dampen the Scottish morale too much.
