Marie Curies Contributions

3

Marie Curie contributed many ideas and

discoveries to the world of science. Her

contributions were gateways to many new

discoveries and developments. One of her

main contributions to our world was her

ability to isolate the radioactive elements

radium and polonium. Most of her

accomplishments, just like this one, were

completed alongside her husband, Pierre

Curie. This discovery was so huge that both

of them received a Nobel Prize, making

Marie the first woman to ever receive such

an award. Their pioneering work proved

that the effects of radium on living

organisms could damage tissue. This

discovery was put to use against cancer

and other diseases.
