Oh what could have been. From the beginning of the EP, there’s an appeal to the album: Wiz seems like a poet with abstract verses, Dolla $ign croons very comfortable, and almost every beat is experimentally minimal. The start wasn’t extremely strong, but the project still retained its promise. What makes this EP fall apart is its inability to make a point. After many listens, I find it easy to lose interest because there is no clear purpose for any of the songs. The highest point is “Say No More,” a great track that fully encompasses what (I think) the two were trying to accomplish. Although there is nothing truly bad about the short body of music, there isn’t necessarily anything that makes the EP enjoyable or even removable. It’s almost good; it’s just not.
SEX. There you have it. Father’s newest offering is almost entirely focused around sex. That’s interesting I guess, but it gets very old very fast. And none of it is catchy! I like Father because of his ability to easily craft fun songs with incredibly catchy lyrics. That factor isn’t really present on WGGFF. In the grand scheme of the project, most of the music was easily forgettable and unimpressive.
