I advise finding the lyrics on Rap Genius and having a read-along for this one. For the everyday listener, perhaps someone who isn’t depressed or strung out on drugs, this album will not make any since and will be perceived as boring. However, with a closer look (I really meant the Rap Genius thing) the album is actually a disturbing dive into Thebe Kgositsile’s most troubling thoughts. After Doris, I actually forgot that Earl was perhaps one of if not the best lyricists in Hip-Hop today. IDLSIDGO is reassurance that Earl’s rhymes are potent. The production reminds me of ooze, and it creates a feeling of everything falling apart or melting around you. Earl uses those beats as a habitat for rhymes that portray the current state of his life and relationships, and he produces (he literally produced 9/10 of the tracks) a very effective and cohesive album. However, the album lacks in material, with 10 tracks totaling in 30 minutes of music. As a result, the album sort of feels rushed and leaves the listener with much to desire.
