Evie Hirst ( 13-20 ) began working at Oundle School in September as a Resident Assistant Sports Coach , following her graduation from the University of Birmingham with First Class Honours in BSc ( Hons ) Sport , Health and Exercise Sciences .
Amy Kendall ( 01-12 ) has started a new position at Nestlé as Customer Category Manager ( Confectionery ) in the Value Retail channel . Prior to this , Amy has been working for the last five and a half years in the company ’ s brand marketing team on new product development and classic brands such as Yorkie .
Congratulations to professional cricketer , Tom Loten ( 06-17 ), who joined Nottinghamshire CCC on a two-year deal in 2022 . The former Yorkshire allrounder featured for Notts ’ Second XI last season during a trial at Trent Bridge . Commenting on joining Nottinghamshire , Tom said : “ Nottinghamshire is a massive club with a history of winning trophies , and that was a major factor in me wanting to join .”
Lucy Maycock ( 12-19 ) is working at Hull Royal Infirmary as a newly qualified Speech and Language Therapist after graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University in the summer .
Hebe Quinney ( 11-20 ) is preparing for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination ( SQE ) with the support of Walker Morris LLP , a law firm based in Leeds . She has successfully secured a Solicitor Training Contract with the firm , which will commence in 2025 .
Jimmy Quinney ( 08-17 ) joined the graduate scheme as a site engineer at Laing O ’ Rourke after graduating in June 2021 . He has since been based in Bridgwater , Somerset working as part of a delivery team involved in the construction of the new Hinkley Point C nuclear power station .
Alex Reay ’ s ( 02-13 ) TikTok video documenting her 2022 bucket list challenge went viral with more than 3 million views . The challenge began with Alex placing five mini bottles of Prosecco with a goal written on each into a shoebox , which were drunk in celebration as each target was achieved . Jenny Russell ( 07-14 ) qualified as a primary school teacher completing her PGDE / QTS at Liverpool John Moore ’ s University in July 2023 . She started teaching Year 3 at Hope Primary School in Liverpool in September 2023 .
Joe Russell ( 06-14 ) is currently working in corporate finance for Cole Associates in Manchester .
Antonia Selvey ( 09-13 ) has qualified as a solicitor . Following stints as a paralegal with Beyond Law Group and Shoosmiths , she completed her training contract at Slater & Gordon Lawyers . Antonia has a strong interest in environmental law which is the area she is now pursuing . She joined Pennon Group in October as an Environmental Lawyer .
Katherine Tilsed ( 16-18 ), Education Officer with the Young People ’ s team at The Money Charity , came into school in April to talk to sixth formers about managing finance once they leave home to live independently as a student , apprentice , or employee . Katherine , who studied English at King ’ s College London , started working for The Money Charity in November 2022 having previously worked in SEN and healthcare marketing . The charity she is now involved with is the UK ’ s Financial Capability Charity which provides information and advice to young people and adults throughout the UK . Katherine works in the Young People ’ s team managing a team of consultants to deliver workshops across the country . Katherine also does some of the workshop delivery herself . In her talk to Lower Sixth students , Katherine spoke about her own experiences at Pocklington , the transition to university and the working world , and the financial implications of living independently at university and beyond .
Layla Warburton ( 12-20 ), a graduate in Psychology , commenced a PGCE this autumn with Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training and hopes to qualify to teach 3 to 7-year-olds .
Seb Williman ( 12-17 ), a third-year undergraduate student of trumpet performance at the Royal Northern College of Music ( RNCM ) in Manchester , has an impressive musical performance CV and has now been nominated for the 2023 Community Arts Award as part of the Yorkshire Choice Awards .
Since leaving school , Seb has gone on to perform regularly across the UK and internationally . In 2022 , Seb performed at the Yorkshire Area contest , the British Open at Symphony Hall , Birmingham , and he was the featured soloist at the Brass in Concert Championships . He is the principal cornet of the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band and performs

Since forming ‘ Rosamund Brass ’ in 2020 amid the pandemic , the brass quartet has collected several impressive accolades . The quartet won the prestigious 2022 Phillip Jones Brass Prize , featured on BBC Radio 4 and performed at the 2022 Christmas Carols on ITV alongside singer , TV personality and entertainer , Jane McDonald .
During 2022 , Rosamund Brass premiered four brand new works in 2022 . Seb commented : “ The highlight was premiering ‘ This Is The Place …’ an extensive four movement work that depicts a different time and place in Manchester , culminating in a powerful closing movement that portrays the aftermath of the 2017 Manchester Arena Attack , with Andy Burnham ’ s powerful speech in the background .”
This year is proving to be just as busy for Seb . In January , Rosamund Brass were delighted to be invited to open the 2023 RNCM Festival of Brass , a prestigious event that features some of the finest brass musicians in the country . Following on from that , Seb is performing with the Gary Clarke Theatre Company , as part of the ‘ Wasteland ’ Spring tour . This dance theatre production was created to mark the 25th anniversary of the demolition of Grimethorpe Colliery in South Yorkshire and 30 years since the rise of UK rave culture . For Seb , this very powerful portrayal of post-pit life , is very poignant and close to his heart due to his connections to colliery brass bands and the set location being close to where he grew up .
Phoebe Witty ( 12-19 ), a recent graduate of Newcastle University with a master ’ s degree in chemistry , has secured a position with Deloitte in the Audit and Assurance department . She will be working towards obtaining the ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification .
