CLASS OF 2013 – TEN YEARS ON

Laura Arnott ( 06-13 ) has spent most of the last ten years at the University of Manchester completing her BA in Drama and Screen Studies and MA in Film Studies , for which she received a distinction and academic honours . Since 2019 , she has been working on a PhD thesis which examines the transcultural reception of Japanese video games . Laura also works as a graduate teaching assistant in the university ’ s drama department , leading classes that consider world cinemas and the interrelations of screen , culture , and society . In September , she presented a paper at the Video Game Cultures conference in Klagenfurt , Austria . Laura plans to spend some time researching in Japan following her doctoral submission next June .

George Redfern ( 05-13 ) works for the Tommy Banks Group as a Content & Social Media Producer , a fun and varied role where he runs five business profiles . After completing university , George travelled around South East Asia , Australia and New Zealand with fellow OPs Angus Clark ( 02-11 ) and Rob Ashton ( 06-13 ). He is now settled in York with his partner Amber , who he also runs a blogging site with specialising in food @ original _ only _ pans .
Oliver Robinson ( 05-13 ) achieved First Class Honours in MSc Computer Science at Imperial College London . He worked for five years for a fintech start-up called Thought Machine and was promoted to a senior software

engineer . The company expanded and opened several international offices after developing a core banking software that big name banks used . Oliver decided to relocate to Toronto , Canada , in 2023 and take a break from office work to explore the country . He will become a snowboard instructor in Le Massif , Quebec , for the winter season of 2023 , which he has always dreamed of doing .
Elly White ( 06-13 ) competed her 5-year MA in Fine Art at the University of Edinburgh , where she combined her art practice with history of art . Alongside her studies , Elly developed her passion for photography , enjoying two busy Edinburgh Fringe seasons as the festival photographer for The Pleasance and Underbelly . After graduating in 2019 , Elly undertook a Digital Communications traineeship at Edinburgh College of Art , which led to employment as the Communications Assistant at Exeter College , University of Oxford . However , Elly missed Scotland , so since Summer 2022 she has been

based in Glasgow , working as the Social and Digital Media Officer at the University of Glasgow . Her second day in the job got off to an eventful start , filming with Dame Katherine Grainger , Olympic gold medallist in rowing at the 2012 summer Olympics .
Archie Williams ( 08-13 ) lived in Tanzania for six months after leaving Pocklington , working with Raleigh International , before completing a degree in Agriculture at the Royal Agricultural University . Archie is most proud of completing his dissertation on agricultural policy in Afghanistan , which was used to help shape opium eradication efforts in the country . In 2018 , Archie began his career working for Archer Daniels Midland ( ADM ), a food processing company . He moved to Chicago in August 2022 to head up wheat risk management for ADM , but now works trading biofuel , ethanol and crude oil for the same company . Amongst his hobbies , he enjoys watching test cricket and fly fishing and will always remember the day he caught his first Atlantic Salmon on a fly .
