Vanilla bean cake recipe

Since I do like to bake, the first cake I ever attempted in decorating was for my birthday. I called it the "Hawaiian Waterfall Cake" I really wanted to try and do a sculpted cake. I watched all those cake shows, so I attempted it. I never had any formal training other than those TV shows. I surprised myself it came out amazing. That is the picture of the first cake I ever made. It was a vanilla bean cake with alternating layers of raspberry and lemon mousse. Everyone that came to my birthday dinner loved it. This was when I knew

had found my strength, and started to love myself again. It all started with

that cake. So I am going to share the Vanilla Bean Cake recipe with you.

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups flour

1 Tbs baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

8 oz sweet butter, softened

1 3/4 cup sugar

1 vanilla beam, split and seeds scraped

3 eggs

1 3/4 cup milk

Directions

Sift dry ingredients except sugar. Cream butter and sugar Blend in vanilla seeds

Add eggs one at a time. mix after each addition. Alternating add dry ingredients with milk Blend well but do not over beat

Divide batter into two greased and floured round 8 inch cake pans

Bake in a preheated 350F oven until done about 40 minutes

Cool on rack, remove and fill and frost.
