Halloween Story
by Amar Halak
It’s the 5th time in a row that Coraline has this exact same nightmare. It’s even more terrifying since she lives in a small tight house alone. In a quiet, vacant neighborhood. But anyways, the dream. It came out of nowhere and she hates it so much. It goes in this exact order. She wakes up at exactly 3:07AM, and feels so unsettled like she's being watched. Everytime she looks at the big mirror in front of her bed, she gets a very strong, uneasy and sickening feeling in her stomach. She feels troubled, tense, and worried. Feelings she can’t explain with words. She wakes up screaming at the top of her lungs when the fear gets too hard to tolerate.
“Why is this happening? Does the dream have a meaning? Is it gonna go on forever? How do I stop it?” Coraline thought to herself nonstop.
The questions are just never ending. The next night, she decided to stay up until 3:07AM and see what happens.
Time passed and it was finally 3AM. She slowly began feeling everything that happened to her in the nightmare, except she was awake this time. It’s 3:03 now. She was shivering nonstop and her heartbeat was beating louder than ever. Her eyes were glued to the mini clock next to her bed, tick-tock, tick-tock. She watched as the time got closer to 3:07. It’s now 3:04. She felt sweat running down her back, her shirt was soaked. 3:05. She wrapped her body with her blanket and crawled into the corner of her bed. Her fear kept increasing and she was sure she wouldn’t be able to handle it by 3:07, just like she can’t in the dream. It hit 3:06 and she let out the loudest shriek, threw the blanket off of herself, grabbed her phone, and ran out of the house. She called her best friend Elvira, begging her to come take her. She looked back at her house and felt it was best to walk away from it. “Just a quick walk around the block until Elvira gets here.” Coraline thought.
Elvira finally pulled up into Coraline’s tiny driveway.
She went into Coraline’s home, shouting her name “Cor! Cor!! CORALINE?? Where are you?” She asked, walking into Coraline’s room.
