Elvira saw Coraline’s reflection in the mirror. She was just sitting on the bed, smiling.

Elvira giggled and said “Coraline, you scared me.”

Coraline did not reply. Elvira turned away from the mirror to face Coraline but she wasn’t there. Her heart sank to the floor and her legs became numb.

“CORALINE THIS ISN’T FUNNY.”

She looks back in the mirror and sees Coraline still smiling, she quickly turns back to the bed and doesn’t see her there. The doorbell rings and Elvira sprints downstairs to open it. It’s Coraline! Elvira drops to the ground and now completely loses feeling in her legs. She wasn’t able to think anymore.

“Elvira, what are you doing?” Coraline asks in a very worried tone.

Elvira jumps up in a matter of seconds, she pushes Coraline out the door and grabs a match and lighter out of her pocket.

“ELVIRA WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?” Coraline shouts, picking herself off the doorsteps.

Elvira doesn’t answer. She lights up the match, throws it into the house, closes the door and runs to her car.

“CORALINE GET IN NOW!” Elvira bawls.

Confused, shocked, and speechless, Coraline hurrys into Elvira’s car. Elvira presses her foot on the petal and speeds away. She explains to Coraline what she saw in her room.

Coraline starts crying and in a horrified shaking voice asks, “Are you saying I have a doppelganger? And they’ve been living in my mirror just…watching me?”

Elvira holds Coraline’s hand while driving with the other and replies “I’m so sorry Coraline, I don’t know what’s happening. I can’t begin to imagine how you feel right now.”

Coraline slowly begins to grin. The smile slowly grows bigger and creepier, and it’s not a pretty smile, it's an evil one.

Elvira snatches her hand out of Coraline’s hand and stares at her with wide eyes, “Coraline, what the hell is wrong with you? I'm already petrified, stop it.”

Coraline points to the road in front of her and begins cackling. Elvira looks and she sees the doppelganger sitting in the middle of the empty lonely street, crying.

Elvira slams the brakes. “OH MY GOD WHAT IS GOING ON?? I THOUGHT SHE BURNED TO DEATH WHEN I LIT THE HOUSE SHE WAS IN ON FIRE!!”

She breaks down crying even more. Coraline, sitting in the passenger seat, is still cackling and looking at her friend with so much excitement.

She taps Elvira on the shoulder. “Can you not tell it’s me?” Coraline asks.

“Coraline, I don’t know what sick game you’re playing but end it right now.” Elvira shouts nervously.
