PAST & Present

In May 2022 , Crofton House hosted its first annual alumnae-versus-students field hockey game .
Alumnae competed against the Crofton Falcons varsity team in a full-field matchup on Kent Field . The game was a huge success , with over 30 players kitting up for the event . After the game , everyone was welcome to wind down and share in the field hockey memories with a barbecue at the Felix Liu Family Rose Lawn Dining Terrace .
We spoke to some of our athletes , past and present , about the game and about their time with the field hockey program :
SOPHIA KORONCZAY ’ 22
“ It was really fun on the field ! It was great to get to know these many generations of field hockey players . At our school , field hockey is a school-centred sport — it ’ s been a part of our history for such a long time . It was amazing to be a part of that sort of multi-generational tradition . And to see it today in the game was even cooler because a lot of people think that Crofton House has such a good sisterhood . I really think that that shows , especially through field hockey — the community we have .”
OLIVIA STARTUP ’ 14
“ There ’ s something really special about the field hockey teams that come together — such great camaraderie . With the girls who had NCAA dreams versus those who didn ’ t plan to play at all who were just doing it for fun , everyone came together and had a common mindset and goal . And Coach Andrew is such a hoot , so fun , and drives you to be better !”
GILLIAN REYNOLDS ’ 90
“ I ’ ve been involved with the Alumnae Association and my daughter currently plays field hockey , so I ’ m here partly as a parent but also as an alumna ! I ’ m excited to see other alumnae come back to the field where so many of us had so many amazing memories — even though when we were here , it was a grass field !”
LAUREN FOTHERINGHAM ’ 19
“ You can definitely still feel that positive energy on the team ! We still have the same passion we did before — maybe a little out of practice ,” Lauren said , laughing , “ but just so happy to be back !”
LAUREN TAYLOR ’ 12
“ The student team gave us a run for our money . It was awesome ! It was great to hear the supportive communication on the team . They ’ re having fun with it but still taking it seriously and cheering each other on . It was a great experience and very humbling — I can ’ t believe that I used to be that fit !”
