He has a dream

There is a dream from the bottom of God’s heart: ‘May the kingdom come. May the will be done on earth as it is in heaven’. Probably, we may say that it’s impossible. We may also wonder, ‘If God exists, why is there violence, injustice or death on earth, and where is God when something painful or cruel happens?’ But, the right question we should ask ourselves is, ‘Where is mankind when something like that happens?’ That’s God’s dream.

The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth, God has given to the human race. That is to say, God rules heavens and we, as humans, rule on earth. God gave us the Scriptures, the keys, to govern this world because we were made in His image and in His likeness. So, everything that has happened in this world is a consequence of what mankind has decided. In other words, all good things that are on earth have entered through mankind and all bad things that are on earth have entered through mankind as well. God hopes that we are like open doors that connect the invisible with the tangible, the spiritual with the natural.

Although sometimes, we relate him to religion, to a temple, or something restricted to people who are totally devoted, God is accessible to everyone and His wish is that we should have a close relationship with Him. Our problem is that we don’t know how to use the keys that God gave us to) unlock heaven’s doors. How can we make it possible? How can we live this way twenty-four hours where God reigns through us? Well, it’s simple; God’s main aim is for us to do our daily activities with our feet on the ground and our eyes in heaven. This is the way in which we, as doors, are opened and let God reign through us.

God wishes us to be able to measure abundance not in terms of what we have but in terms of what we give. We should be compassionate neighbors and not fall short. Sometimes, amid the rush and confusion of everyday life, we may neglect to share a kind word or a kind deed. This oversight hurts others, and it hurts us as well. God’s dream is that today we may be compassionate neighbors, and for this, we should slow down and be on the alert for friends who need our smile, our kind words or helping hands. We must make kindness a centerpiece of our dealings with others because they will be blessed and we will be, too.

God dreams that we can open our minds and hearts to him to find infinite love. When calamity strikes anywhere in the world, we’re often confronted with real-time images of tragedies and those images can breed anxiety. As we stare transfixed with outrage at our television screens, we may fall prey to fear, discouragement, worry, or all three. We should keep our doors open and find rest because God’s intentions are that our lives may lead us to abundance, not anxiety. For this reason, we should be aware of His love when the tide is high because God's love reaches beyond the heavens, and it touches the darkest, smallest corner of every human heart.

God dreams that we are all sensible people who may control our temper. Sometimes, people can be discourteous or even cruel. They can be unfair, unkind and unappreciative. Sometimes people get angry and frustrated. God dreams that we won´t judge but simply forgive. We should determine to be quick to forgive others for their shortcomings. And when the people around us misbehave, as they will from to time to time, we should think that we all have moments when we are not at our best. God dreams that our forgiveness towards others should flow from a realization and appreciation of God’s forgiveness towards us.

The kingdom of God is not unattainable and it´s not measured in terms of armed forces, defeats, and conquests, let alone human rule or territory. God´s dream is not of that kind. God’s dream is about a kingdom that goes far beyond human boundaries; it cannot be delivered by prison bars or chains, it cannot be excluded by political or religious barriers. The kingdom that God dreams about has to do with simple seeds that can be planted and grown, that can thrive and become fruitful beyond measure, seeds that can start to grow in our hearts and go on in our families, in our friends, seeds that can finally be widespread among nations. He has that dream. That is: may the kingdom come.
