MY JOURNEY WITH C APRE C ORN MAJORITY OF THE YOUTHS IN OUR COUNTRY...ARE PAID TO CAUSE ELECTORAL VIOLENCE...AND THE POLITICIANS SEND THEIR CHILDREN TO SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES ABROAD; SAFE FROM THE VIOLENCE My name is Precious Nimem. I am a final year student of the National Diploma Programme (ND) in Business and Management Studies with Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Nigeria. It was difficult financing my education after the death of my beloved mother who was the breadwinner of my family. Everyone gave up on my education, but I didn’t give up on myself.  I kept on striving and Doris saw my zeal and determination. So she introduced me to Caprecon, and after several discussions with Sir Dollin Holt, the Director, he decided to help me. The organization became my family, my motivation, they became responsible for everything that pertains to my education; my fees; my textbooks; project levy and others too numerous to mention. I am where I am today because of God’s blessing and the help I received from Caprecon; and I am very grateful to them for their help. I am now a member of, and a volunteer for Caprecon. To help spread our message, I planned and carried out a project on MAY 27TH, 2014 which was World’s Children Day. I and my team members under this great organization visited, played with, and comforted orphans and sick children at an orphanage home and a paediatrics ward at a local hospital, respectively. Additionally, we carried out a Peace campaign at my polytechnic, spreading the message of peace amongst young people. We organized a seminar themed around the role of youths and violence in political elections. A research carried out prior to the seminar showed that majority of the youths in our country, especially students from polytechnics and universities, are paid to cause electoral violence which results in loss of limbs and lives; and the politicians engineering these acts send their children to schools and universities abroad;  safe from the violence they helped orchestrate. Finally, I owe a lot of gratitude to my boss and mentor, DOLLIN HOLT, for his unending love and compassion. He is a positive role model that drives me into wanting to succeed. May God bless and protect him in Jesus name. I also thank my Caprecon team members for giving their time to such a worthy cause and for standing by me when I needed them. May the almighty God bless and protect you all in Jesus name. Amen.
