“We see a space that had traditionally been held for the
non-profit charities slowly being squeezed out by the full profit
sector and I think that speaks to donor expectations about
having fun, exciting events instead of considering whether or
not their dollars will be used to benefit their community or a
cause,” said Goddard.
While Goddard suggests Windsorites should demand more
of the organizations they give their hard-earned money to, she
also suggests charities should stop buying into gimmicky,
short-term fundraisers that could possibly harm their
reputation over time. Though their goal is always to keep
fundraising costs at a minimum, Goddard says the United Way
has found ways to keep their traditional methods
