by Jac Price was recommended that a change be made to allow for expenditures from the Capital account and eliminate the criteria of having to maintain a balance of $27,000,000 of on-hand dollars. There was also a recommendation that for any dollars to be spent that there must be a vote of the County Commissioner and County Council with eight affirmative votes and at least two affirmative Commissioner’s votes. Both of these recommendations were adopted and the ordinance will be changed.  There was next a conversation regarding a request from Lippert Industries to extend water and sewer from LaGrange to their facility located one and one-half miles north of 200N. This would entail the Town of LaGrange upgrading their line to the 200N location and for the county to extend the lines north to the facility. The LaGrange County Redevelopment Commission is planning on doing a study of the cost to go to the facility and also to extend on to Howe as phase 2 and on to the state line as phase 3. After this information is available it will be time to look at what the different possibilities are.  We next discussed the amount that is being paid by the county for Veterans Burial Allowance. This came up due to the fact that $19,000 was appropriated for 2012 and through the end of September we have spent $23,000. After the discussion it was agreed to keep the benefit at $500. The final item that was addressed was the engineering study for the improvement to 200N from 450W to 675W. There were three different scenarios offered. After discussion there were questions that needed to be addressed by the attorney and financial person and also there needs to be a public meeting with those who live in the area in question, as to what their input might be. It was decided to table this to the November 12, 2012 meeting. As always, we will try to be good stewards of your tax dollars. Vincent J.
