Well coach Yoder has been hammering his philosophy in their heads. Wagler says coach wants to make sure “that we (the Warriors) improve everyday we practice or have a game so we can be as prepared as possible for sectionals.” The Warriors are still a favorite heading into the sectionals. All was not lost with the Wawasee defeat. They are still a great basketball team with an 18-1 record. Sure, the perfect season had never been done before but one loss means nothing if they continue to win from here on out. With Jantzi, Wagler, Lambright, and Neely leading the team, they should stay grounded, hungry, and humble. How bad do the Warriors want to win it all? Wagler used the word love to describe it. “Of course we would love to go all the way. Who wouldn’t? But coach is telling us great things don’t come easy so we are just trying to prepare as well as we can to make as far of a run as we possibly can.” With determination of the senior leaders and a coach to keep them focused, there’s no cap on what the Warriors boys can do. Hopefully the Warriors keep advancing and making their way towards Indianapolis. The first step comes during sectionals as they will face the winner of Jimtown versus LaVille. The Warriors have already beat Jimtown earlier this season with a 43-37 victory. During tournament time, a team can make no mistakes. A team has to play as close to perfect as Westview has done during this season. With hard work, who knows, they might just make it to Conseco Field House. • Junior High School Sports • *Events are subject to change* Mar. 1 Girls 6th Basketball @ West Noble................ 4:30 Girls Basketball vs. Milford............................ 4:30 Wrestling @ Concord.................................... 5:00 Mar. 3 Girls Basketball @ Lakeland.......................... 4:30 Wrestling @ Fremont..................................... 5:00 Mar. 5 Wresting Invite @ Central Noble.................. 9:30 Mar. 7 Girls 7th Basketball vs Concord.................... 4:30 Girls 8th Basketball @ Concord.................... 4:30 Mar. 8 Girls Basketball LLC...................................... 4:30 Page 30 Mar. 10 Girls Basketball LLC...................................... 4:30 Mar. 11 Girls Basketball LLC...................................... 4:30 Mar. 12 Wrestling LLC................................................ 9:00 Mar. 28 Tennis vs Northridge..................................... 4:30 Westview Girls Basketball The Lady Warriors finished the 2010-2011 season with a respectful 13-9 mark. The season ended with a disappointing sectional loss at Fairfield. What was the most disappointing was losing with a veteran team. Junior starter Skyler Carpenter felt the same. “(It was disappointing) having a veteran team with high expectations and not being able to succeed them.” However, there is much to be excited about for next season. “We have a fresh group of girls coming up who are excited about the season and with their momentum and focusing on mastering fundamentals it will improve our team,” said Carpenter. Many young girls also shone on the court this winter such as juniors Jeslyn Zimmerly, Skyler Carpenter, and Kassy Zimmerman, just to name a few. But a senior was the biggest surprise for the team. “Kristin Steider improved significantly throughout the season,” said an impressed Carpenter. The Lady Warriors also learned a few things this season as they struggled through some games. “I’ve learned that team chemistry is the foundation of everything. Without it, there’s no unity in goals or games,” Carpenter said. This season was tough on the team during stretches but they also succeeded many times.
