HAMMONTON—A man was
found to have a warrant for his ar-
rest after police found him pub-
licly urinating behind the Auto
zone, located in a shopping center
on the White Horse Pike (Route
30) uptown at 2:42 p.m. on De-
cember 8, Hammonton Police Lt.
Kevin Friel said.
“An officer witnessed a subject
urinating behind the Auto zone lo-
cated within the prime block of
the White Horse Pike,” Friel said.
Officer Jason Rigby found
Joseph Romanelli, 58, of egg
Harbor City who had an outstand-
ing warrant in the amount of $250
from Atlantic City, Friel said.
Romanelli was released on his
own recognizance pending a court
appearance in Atlantic City, Friel
said.
Rigby was the arresting officer,
Friel said.
in other police news, local po-
lice were contacted at 3:30 p.m.
on December 9 about the theft of
a purse from an unlocked vehicle
on the 200 block of Valley Av-
enue, Friel said.
A resident came in and reported
that her purse was removed from
her unlocked vehicle sometime
between 9 p.m. on December 7
and the morning of December 8,
Friel said.
The purse was described as a
brown Michael Kors bag with a
chain handle valued at $120 and
inside the purse was $20 cash, a
passport, checks and other per-
sonal effects, Friel said.
Anyone with any information in
reference to the vehicle theft
should contact the Hammonton
Police Department at (609) 561-
4000. Friel reminded all residents
to lock their car, house, garage and
shed doors to help prevent thefts.
“in addition, residents are asked
during the holiday season to not
leave shipped packages on their
porch longer than necessary. if
you know when packages are ar-
riving have someone pick them
up. We have seen an increase in
package thefts during the holiday
season the last few years,” Friel
said.
Officer Charles Sbarra was the
investigating officer, Friel said.
Also, at 2:31 p.m. on December 3, police received a call about
Sports Drive at Hammonton Lake
Park regarding a white man wear-
ing all black clothing playing in
the park with a young girl wearing
a tutu, Hammonton Police Lt.
Kevin Friel said.
“The caller stated that the girl
seemed uncomfortable around the
male. The caller also stated that
the male subject entered a gray
convertible and was parked near
the ballfield,” Friel said.
Friel said a patrol car with Offi-
cer Renzo Mendoza arrived and
identified the subject as an ed-
ward A. Williamson, 59, of Ham-
monton. Williamson had an open
alcoholic beverage container in
the vehicle, Friel said.
The juvenile was also in the ve-
hicle, and Mendoza noted that
Williamson had an odor of alco-
holic beverage on his breath and
person, Friel said.
According to Friel, Williamson
was placed into custody and taken
to police headquarters and
charged with the following motor
vehicle summonses: DWi, open
alcoholic beverage container in
the vehicle, a refusal to submit to
east on the White Horse Pike
(Route 30), Friel said.
Friel said a subsequent call
from another employee at the
bank offered the same description
of the individual, but added that
the vehicle had left the Blueberry
Crossing shopping center and
drove onto Broadway, toward
Central Avenue.
“According to the second caller, the individual had a silver re-
volver,” Friel said.
The Hammonton Police Depart-
ment was searching for the sub-
ject, and two units found her on
Valley Avenue, and she was fi-
nally stopped on Grape Street,
Friel said.
Figueroa was taken into custody
without incident, and the money,
a total of $9,622 in cash, was re-
covered, Friel said. She was ar-
rested and charged with robbery,
aggravated assault with a deadly
weapon, unlawful possession of a
weapon, possession of a weapon
for unlawful purpose and theft,

“The gun was not loaded at the
time it was recovered,” Friel said.
