Police Chief Kevin friel said.
the first vehicle, a red 2004
ford ranger operated by Kyle
Whelan, 19, of Marlton, was trav-

failed to yield at the posted yield
sign when he entered Central av-
enue, which was being traveled

silver 2016 Subaru Legacy driven
by Jeanine Gerety, 63, of Mays
Landing, friel said.
“Her vehicle basically became
a ramp,” friel said.
the ford ranger impacted with
and began to ride up over the Sub-

ford ranger to spin, overturn,
strike the curb and come to rest on
its side on the sidewalk in front of
St. Joseph High School, friel said.
the investigating officer was
Sgt. Jason rigby, who issued
summonses for failure to stop and
yield and careless driving to Whe-
lan, friel said, adding that the ac-
cident has led town officials to
further examine the intersection.
“it has generated conversation
about having a traffic analysis
about the amount of traffic on that
roadway and the possibility of
making it safer,” friel said.
