clerk come out,” Councilman
Joseph Giralo said.
Czerwinski, along with the re-
cently-hired bilingual municipal
court clerk Mariela Mondragon,
were previously employed by the
egg Harbor City Municipal Court.
their hiring is the latest in a se-
ries of changes to Hammonton’s
court, since it became a joint mu-
nicipal court with folsom in 2018.
in his report, town solicitor
Michael Malinsky summarized an
ordinance addendum updating the
language of the joint municipal
court agreement.
“the one provision in the first
addendum that affects the town of
Hammonton is that folsom will
now be paying the town of Ham-
monton an additional $18,000 per
year, which will be paid in four
equal quarterly installments of
$4,500. this is in addition to, cur-
rently we get all the fines and rev-
enue for any tickets issued in
folsom. in addition to that now,
folsom will commit to paying
Hammonton the first payment of
$4,500 by January 1, 2020,” Ma-
linsky said.
additionally, according to the
language in a legal advertisement
published in The Gazette, “in ac-
cordance with the establishment of
a Joint Municipal Court and this
first addendum, folsom shall
compensate its prior Municipal
Court Clerk in the amount of
$19,295.00.”
Mayor stephen didonato ex-
plained the necessity for such an
agreement, and what it may mean
for Hammonton in the future.
“the state is in the process of, it
looks like they’re going to approve,
if any municipal court has less than
3,000 line items, they will have
them close their court. so these
smaller courts like, for instance,
folsom, Mullica, egg Harbor City,
need to fall under a more regional
court system. it appears that there’s
going to be three or four regional
courts in our county, and Ham-
monton looks like it’s going to be
one of them. We’re talking to some
other towns now. that’s just in
talks now, but we’ll know more
probably in the next 90 to 120
days. We get the fines, and we get
some money to make up any dif-

in other council news, during the
administration Committee report,
Gribbin announced that the town
would be having a competitive
bond sale combining certain Gen-
eral improvement (G.i.) bonds and
water/sewer utility bonds, in the

“We’re seeking to have a com-
petitive bond sale of over $7.5 mil-
lion in G.i. bonds and over $2.1
million in water and sewer bonds,
to take place on october 16 and
closing in november. ... we’re not
looking to push the time out on
these bonds, but we are looking for
some significant tax savings,”
Gribbin said.
