John McNeil Hamilton
John Mcneil Hamilton, formerly of Blue anchor, died on november
5, 2018.
Hamilton was born on January 19, 1934. He had been a resident at
the Va Memorial Home in Vineland for the last four years. Known to
family members as ‘Jack’ or ‘Uncle Jack,’ he had a keen sense of
humor, constantly telling a joke or a story to the staff and other residents
of the Va home. He proudly served his country in the Us navy during
the Korean Conflict. He had been a longtime member of the Lions
Club. He was the owner/operator of Hamilton excavation and is known
for the ability to do unusual and difficult jobs, like the original erection
of the giant “Mr. Bill” statue by the restaurant of the same name on rt.
73 in Blue anchor.
He was the loving son of Mildred Hamilton Hartley and John Mcneil Hamilton, sr.
He is predeceased by his wife, ruth Kerr; his mother, father and sister, Claire. He is sur-
vived by his sister, Mary Lou (Hamilton) Glatz of Mercer island, Wash.; nephews, dough
Glatz of portland, ore., and robin Cordero of Waterford Works; nieces, Lynne Glatz
Jablonski of anchorage, alaska, Lori Glatz scott and sharon Glatz scott of Mercer island,
Wash.; grandson, Billy Buchanan of peachtree, Ga., and several grand nieces and
nephews.
a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on saturday, october 5 at the Leroy p.
Wooster funeral Home, 441 White Horse pike, atco. Visitation will be held from 11
a.m. to 1 p.m. the family requests that you send no flowers. donations to the Va Me-
morial Home in Vineland, 524 northwest Boulevard, Vineland, nJ 08360 in his honor
would be graciously appreciated.

Joan Irizarry
Joan irizarry (nee archer), 83, of Buena Vista died on sunday, sep-
tember 23, 2019 at Genesis Millville Center.
Born in Vincentown, she lived most of her life in Winslow twp. but
spent a few years in Hammonton and Vineland. she worked for C & e
Canners and as a waitress for angie’s Lunch and the pine Crest inn.
irizarry enjoyed going to the casinos and the racetrack, watching car
races and cooking. she also loved to be with her friends at the Mcdon-
alds’s in Hammonton.
she is predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, George
irizarry; daughter, Belinda irizarry; brothers, Harvey “skeeter” archer
and robert archer and son-in-law, Joseph “Butch” orlano. she is sur-
vived by her children, George irizarry (Candace) and Beverly orlano both of Vineland;
sister, florence Moore “tootsie;” three brothers, Harry, thomas and George archer as
well as her furry friends. she was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren, George
r. irizarry, Jr., Michelle irizarry-auxer (Chris), Kaitlin irizarry and Joseph orlano, Jr.,
and had five great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, six step grandchildren,
nine step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral services were held friday, september 27 at the Marinella funeral
Home, Hammonton. in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the south Jersey re-
gional animal shelter, 1244 n delsea dr, Vineland, nJ 08360.

Anthony J. Butterhof
anthony J. Butterhof, 81, of egg Harbor City, formerly of Wilming-
ton, del., died suddenly on september 26, 2019, of acute myeloid
leukemia.
tony and his wife, Virginia, resided in Westgate farms from 1994
through 2017. although he retired, he kept active with many hobbies,
including building and flying experimental aircraft. He broadened his
education by earning an aeronautical science technology degree at
delaware tech, and a civil engineering degree from University of
delaware. tony was known to have a love of history, could fix any-
thing, saved everything, was messy, laughed loudly and frustrated many
with his quirky sense of humor and free spirit. His greatest pride was
raising his daughters and harassing his sons-in-law: Barbara and thomas rheault, Vir-
ginia and Justin Charpentier, and elaine and George frick. He loved nothing more than
scallywaggin’ and playing games with his grandchildren: allison (Joe), emily, zachary,
tom, tyler and abigail.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia; his daughters; his siblings; brother-
in-law and numerous other extended family members.
a viewing was held at Carnesale funeral Home in Hammonton on sunday, september
29. friends called on Monday, september 30 at st. nicholas Church of our Lady of per-
petual Help parish in egg Harbor City, followed by a funeral Mass and burial.

Identity theft reported to police

HaMMonton—an individ-
ual reported an alleged identity
theft at 9:15 a.m. on september
24, Hammonton police Chief
Kevin friel said.
“the person said they had re-
ceived a credit card statement for
more than $14,000 worth of items
from Home depot. the resident
had unknowingly had his identity
stolen and a charge account for
Home depot was opened with his
identifiers in Washington state.
the individual or individuals ran
up a charge of nearly $14,000,”
friel said.
the subject was advised to no-
tify the credit bureaus in case of
further credit fraud and the inci-
dent report was taken by officer
eric pohl, friel said.
in other police news, a warrant
arrest was made at 3:43 p.m. on
september 25 on the prime block
of toni Lynn Court, friel said.
police were called to one of the
units at toni Lynn Court and it
was determined that Kristian
rueda, 20, of Hammonton had an
outstanding warrant from Hamil-
ton twp. for $289, friel said.
rueda was given a new court date to appear in Hamilton twp.
court, friel said, adding that po-
lice had been called to the unit in
reference to a disturbance.

on the 100 block of Bellevue av-
enue police were called to a local
store in reference to the owner’s
cell phone being taken, friel said.
“an unknown white male who
was browsing the store was ob- served on camera taking the
owner’s cell phone. the male is
described as about 5 feet 8 inches
tall, in his late 20s or early 30s,
with a thin build, wearing a blue
hoodie, blue jeans and gray sneak-
ers,” friel said.
the value of the cell phone is
about $200, friel said.

• on september 27 at 2:40 p.m.
on the 400 block of e. pleasant
street, a theft of a bicycle occurred,
friel said.
the bicycle was left parked be-
hind a residence and was taken at
some time between 7 a.m. and 11
a.m. on september 27, friel said.
friel said the bicycle is de-
scribed as a white roadrunner
mountain bike with a purple stripe
across the top.
the bicycle has an approximate
value of $140, friel said.
friel said officer renzo Men-
doza was the investigating officer.
• on september 28 at 8:37 a.m.,
an alleged theft of moveable prop-
erty occurred on the 100 block of
s. Monroe avenue, friel said.
the complainant had a work ve-
hicle parked out on the street in
front of his residence on s. Mon-
roe avenue between the hours of
6:30 p.m. on september 27 and 8
a.m. on september 28, friel said.
on september 28 at 8 a.m., the
complainant discovered two
pieces of lawn maintenance equip-
ment, a stihl backpack blower and
a stihl weed wacker with a cumu-
lative value of $750 were missing
from the truck, friel said.
Cpl. James pinto was the inves-
tigating officer, friel said.
Thefts throughout town
Lucy Piason
Lucy piason (nee platanella), 94, of Winslow died peacefully on
september 27, 2019 at the samaritan Center in Voorhees.
Born in Hammonton, Lucy and her husband frank worked side by
side on their farm in Winslow. she was a devoted wife and mother, an
excellent cook, and a go-to for family and friends for all cooking ad-
vice. she was also involved with Winslow pta.
she is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary; her husband,
frank f. piason; five brothers, Joseph Jr., anthony, edward, Vincent
and John platanella and three sisters, Mary Grasso, frances platanella
and nellie Boggio. surviving are her three children, frank J. piason
(Christos Lemonedes) of pompano Beach, fla., richard a. piason
(Claire) of solomons, Md., and Cheryl L. perkins (Kevin) of stratford, n.J.; her sister,
rose Moffa; and three sisters-in-law, antoinette Christopher, sylvia olivo and dolores
Munson. she was the beloved grandmother of nicole and Michelle piason and Brian
perkins and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
a viewing was held tuesday, october 1 at the Marinella funeral Home, Hammonton.
a Mass of Christian Burial was also celebrated on tuesday at st. Mary of Mt. Carmel
parish – st. Joseph Church, Hammonton, with burial following at Holy sepulchre Ceme-
