Jeffrey C. Garrison
Jeffrey C. Garrison, 76, of Mays La nding and formerly of Hammon-
ton, died Monday, august 14, 2017, at Shore Memorial Hospital in
Somers Point.
Born in Long Branch, nJ, he lived in florida and Delaware part-time
where he was a seasonal bus driver. He graduated from Waynesburg Col-
lege. He began his career as a teacher, and from 1971 – 1997, he was the
principal of the Hammonton elementary School and retired after 26
years of service.
He was predeceased by his parents, thomas and Doris Garrison; wife,
Carolyn and his companion of more than 23 years, Joanne Cappuccino.
He is survived by his son, robert Garrison and his wife, Connie of Japan;
stepdaughter, theresa “terri” Bruno and her husband, albert of Mays Landing; brother,
evan t. Garrison; sisters, Deborah G. Prell and ardeth G. Boriss; grandchildren, Christo-
pher Garrison, Sabrina Garrison, Lisa Smith and Kimberly Povernick.
family and friends attended a prayer service on friday, august 18, 2017, at the Marinella
funeral Home, 102 n. third St., Hammonton, nJ. Burial will be at the convenience of the
family.

Kevin H. Scott
Kevin H. Scott, 20, of Hammonton, died suddenly on thursday, au-
gust 17, 2017, in Waterford township.
Born in Pequannock, he lived in Butler before moving to Hammonton
in 2008. Kevin graduated from Hammonton High School Class of 2015,
where he participated on the Cross Country and field and track teams.
Kevin attended rowan university and Camden County Community Col-
lege. While in college, he worked for Whole foods in Cherry Hill and
as a courier for uber in Philadelphia. Kevin was a member of the Ham-
monton first assembly of God Church, where he participated in their
royal rangers program.
He is survived by his mother, Deborah Scott of Hammonton; his fa-
ther, John t. White of oak ridge; two brothers, John f. White (Katie) of north Carolina
and Jonathan Scott (anna) of Longmont, Colo.; his maternal grandmother, anna Margaret
Scott of Hammonton; one niece, Sophia, and one nephew, Bennett; and by several aunts,
uncles and cousins.
a visitation will be held today, Wednesday, august 23, 2017, from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Burglary, theft arrests were made

lawn avenue in reference to a theft
from a motor vehicle, the report
said. the victim reported that an
apple iPad and subwoofer were
stolen from his unlocked vehicle
overnight, according to the report.
no value of the stolen items was
given. officer Charles Sbarra was
the investigating officer, the report
said.
• on august 16 at approxi-
mately 7:33 a.m., police responded
to the 600 block of Jacobs Street
in reference to a theft from a vehi-
cle, Slimm’s report said. the vic-
tim reported that someone entered
his unlocked vehicle overnight and
removed a laptop computer and a
wallet, the report said. no value of
the stolen items was given, and
officer eric Pohl was the investi-
gating officer, the report said.
• on august 16 at approxi-
mately 5:52 p.m., police re-
sponded to the 500 block of
fairview avenue in reference to a
theft from a vehicle, the report
said. the victim reported multiple
unnamed items were stolen from
his unlocked vehicle overnight, ac-
cording to Slimm’s report. no
value of the stolen items was
given, and Class ii officer Gordon
ellis iii was the investigating offi-
cer, the report said.
• on august 18 at approxi-
mately 11:36 a.m., police received
a call from Walmart in reference to
a shoplifter, the report said. Said
shoplifter, identified as Gregory
ingram iii, of the 200 block of
north Second Street in Hammon-
ton, fled the scene in a motor ve-
hicle, the report said. ingram was
Samuel Davis Walker
Sa muel Davis Walker, 86, died peacefully at home on august 14, 2017.
He was born at home in Pittsgrove on april 28, 1931, on the farm of his parents, ethel
(turner) and Howard Walker. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1949 and con-
tinued to work on the family farm. He served in the united States army from 1953 until
1955. His army unit participated in one of the atomic bomb tests in nevada.
Sam and his brother, everett, started Walker Bros. farms in 1964. they were early
adopters of innovations in agriculture working with both rutgers Cooperative extension
and the new Jersey Department of agriculture on their farm to advance vegetable research.
in 1987, they formed Jersey asparagus farms inc., of which Sam served as president. Jer-
sey asparagus farms was an international company specializing in asparagus seed and
crowns, and Sam and his family traveled to many countries to consult and promote the
business, including China, Peru, new zealand and Mexico.
Sam also contributed to his community as a member of the elmer Borough Council,
the Salem County Board of agriculture, the Board of Managers for Cook College of rut-
gers university, the elmer Masonic Lodge of free and accepted Masons #160, the Cum-
berland County College advisory Board, new Jersey forest fire Warden, new Jersey farm
Bureau, Vineland Produce auction and the Landisville fruit Growers association. He and
his brother were honored by the new Jersey Vegetable Growers association as “Vegetable
Grower of the Year” in 1995 and recognized for their service to the community by the Wil-
low Grove fire Department in 1997. Sam had many interests, but his life was his family,
farming, straight field rows and traveling.
He was predeceased by his brother, everett Walker and his sisters, Betty Coblentz and
Lois Creeley. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy (McWilliams); his three chil-
dren, Scott (Sally), Michael (Leslie) and amy Walker; his grandchildren, andy and Jessie
Walker; his sister-in-law, Barbara finger Walker and his brother-in-law, robert McWilliams
(Bonnie).

18 at approximately 8:37 p.m., po-
lice received a report of a single-
vehicle crash, according to a report
by Det. Sgt. edward Slimm. anna
Carey, 72, of Hammonton, was
traveling on the 400 block of
South first road when she lost
control of her vehicle, a 2004 sil-
ver Chevy Malibu, and grazed a
tree and then struck a split-rail
fence, the report said.
according to Slimm’s report, it
was raining heavily and the roads
were wet at the time of the acci-
dent. there were no injuries and
the vehicle was able to be driven
from the scene, the report said. ac-
cording to the report, officer Jared
Baglivo was the investigating of-
ficer.
PRCA Week
begins Aug. 27
HaMMonton—the Puerto
rican Civic association of Ham-
monton will be holding its annual
Puerto rican Week this year start-
ing on Sunday, august 27. this
four-day event will begin as the
members of the association attend
the 11:45 a.m. Spanish Mass in
Saint Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish -
St. Joseph’s Church. Shortly after
the Mass, the annual procession
will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m.
in front of the church, where they
will then parade to town hall for the
ceremony of the raising of both the
american and Puerto rican flags.
