ton Lake, and we noticed that
along the other side of that walk-
way there is a wooded area and
you’ll notice that there is some-
times trash there from other peo-
ple, and we have a plan for every
other month, the third week on
Saturday, to go out for four hours
and every other Monday to pick
up trash and anything else that
needs to be done,” Boy Scouts of
America Troop 58 member Car-
son Lee said.
A motion to approve the appli-
cation for Troop 58 to adopt the
portion of the park was made by
commission member James
Borda, seconded by commission
member Franco Catania and
passed unanimously.
Commission chairman Louis
Cappuccio thanked the scouts in

cleaning up the park, for which a
sign will provided by the town
and installed at the cleanup site to
identify and recognize them.
“We thank you, we appreciate
your efforts towards this. It’s re-
ally nice of the whole group,”
Cappuccio said.
In other news, Catania brought
up concepts for a T-shirt logo de-
sign that would be worn by park
attendant Bruce Perna and other
parks and recreation department
employees present in the parks in
order to differentiate them from
police and civilians.
“It will differentiate that they’re
a member of the town, and they’re
not just some willy-nilly resident
yelling at people to get off the
field,” Catania said.
The “safety yellow”-colored
shirt would show the town’s tradi-
tional blueberry logo on the front,
and on the back, would read
“Parks Department” with a circu-
lar logo that is currently being de-
signed.

the Laurel Springs-based academy
consists of 11 players, nine of
which are from Hammonton,
which, according to Massey, is
why the players and their parents
wanted to have a local facility to
play.
“The academy was out of Lau-
rel Springs. All of our kids played
there last year, but we didn’t like
the travel, we didn’t like having to
go there three times a week for
practice. So, what we’ve con-
vinced Mid-Atlantic Baseball
Academy to do is to give us Mid-
Atlantic Baseball Academy East,
and we are starting that program
right now,” Massey said.
Massey said the field will be
used for practice, while the home
games are already played at the
lake park’s Little League fields.
A motion to sanction the Mid-
Atlantic Baseball Academy for the
use of the facility and the field be-
hind the Sooy Elementary School
was made by commission vice-
chair Paul Ordille, seconded by
commission member Ian Fisher
and passed unanimously.

monton Canoe Club for its meet-
ings and the New Jersey
Commission for the Blind to hold
lunches for approximately 35 sen-

park.
Barberio also introduced three
new use of facility requests for
Hammonton Towne Drama to use
the Canoe Club for a gathering
after their production of High
