Diana Hanselmann (nee DeMarco), 91, of Galloway died on January
20, 2020.
She graduated from Hammonton High School in 1946 and Pierce
Business School in 1950. Diana was a secretary for the People’s Bank for
12 years until the births of her daughters. She worked as a bookkeeper
for Chatsworth Cranberry association for 23 years. She loved bookkeep-
ing and held several part-time jobs after retirement. She loved family and
hosting holiday dinners, traveling and lunches with family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband, William Hanselmann and her lov-
ing sisters and brothers. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Hess, eliza-
beth (Charles) Michel and Jill Garbutt; her sister, amelia todara; her
brother, Philip (Josephine) DeMarco; her loving grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
a visitation and service were held on Saturday, January 25 at Wimberg funeral Home,
egg Harbor City. interment followed at atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in estell Manor.

Man charged with assault

HaMMONtON—a local man
was charged with assault on a law
enforcement officer along with
other charges after being stopped
by an officer at 12:30 a.m. on Jan-
uary 25 on the 400 block of N.
egg Harbor road, Hammonton
Police Chief Kevin friel said.
K-9 Cpl. robert zbikowski was
in the vicinity and observed a per-
son riding a bicycle through a
property that was clearly posted
with no trespassing signs, friel
said.
zbikowski identified the subject
as Christian rueda, 21, of Ham-
monton, friel said.
“He walked up to Mr. rueda
and advised him he was trespass-
ing on the property. rueda be-
came confrontational and kept
touching the outer front pocket
and rear pocket of his pants,” friel
said.
zbikowski was going to pat him
down for his safety and asked
rueda if he had anything on him,
friel said. rueda said he had a hy-
podermic needle in his right rear
pocket, friel said.
Officer John amendolia iii had
arrived on the scene to aid
zbikowski, friel said. When
amendolia reached for rueda’s
front pocket, rueda became com-
bative and struck amendolia in
the head with his fists and feet,
friel said.
rueda was taken into custody
and was charged with aggravated
assault on a law enforcement offi-
cer, resisting arrest and possession
of controlled dangerous substance
methamphetamine, possession of
a hypodermic needle and defiant
trespass, friel said.
zbikwoski was the charging
and arresting officer, friel said.
rueda was transported to the at-
lantic County Jail on active war-
rants from Hammonton and
Hamilton twp., friel said.

“the subject selected multiple
cans of crabmeat and concealed
the cans down his pants. in total, it
was 37 cans of crabmeat totaling
$1,036.66,” friel said.
Shoprite pressed charges and
the accused, John Ciarlante, 49, of
Hammonton, was charged with
shoplifting in the third degree,
friel said.
“He is not in custody. the com-
plaint has been sworn out,” friel
said.
friel said Officer Christopher
Henshaw was the investigating of-
ficer.
also, police are investigating a
burglary on the 100 block of
Berwyn avenue which was re-
ported at 12:36 p.m. on January 24,
friel said.
“We received a walk-in com-
plaint of a theft from a motor vehi-
cle. the vehicle was left unlocked
and had been rummaged through.
a pink Kate Spade purse valued at
$110 and a tD Bank debit card
were taken. the card was canceled
when she realized it was missing.
there were two charges that were
attempted to be made at a local
convenience store in our jurisdic-
tion and an officer went to the store
to review video surveillance. the
accused was Gabriel Luna, 19, of
Hammonton,” friel said.
a complaint for the three crimi-
nal charges was sworn out by Of-
ficer William Kurz, friel said,
adding that Luna is not in custody
at this time.
the charges are burglary from a
motor vehicle, theft and credit card
fraud, friel said.
in other police news, police are
investigating an attempted fraud
that occurred at 1:24 p.m. on Jan-
uary 22 on the 200 block of
Inferrera’s

“it was a scam involving the
electric company. the complainant
said she received a call from an un-
known caller stating that her elec-
tric was going to be shut off
because she was $1,000 behind.
the caller said she had to send
cash through a cash-sending serv-
ice site online,” friel said.
the complainant started to com-
plete the task, but contacted her
bank instead and no money was
transferred, friel said.
Officer eric Pohl was the inves-
tigating officer, friel said.
“residents are reminded to be
wary of scams, particularly those
that ask you to send money or give
identification information over the
phone. always contact the com-
pany being named on the company
phone number. Don’t just go by the
first phone call you receive. there
are a lot of phishing and pay site
scams going around right now,”
friel said.
