4 Continents vs. U.S. Education By Madeline Jordan
E
Millions of children around the world go to school every day and learn different curriculums compared to other countries. The world is constantly comparing the performance of their students. Americans criticize their education system, but it’s not as bad as many think. Here is how the U.S. compares.
Asia
Asian countries such as Hong Kong and Singapore have passed the U.S. academically by a long shot. Those two countries have significantly better reading, mathematics, and science scores as stated in Pewresearch. They are at the top of the list and not many other countries are above them. This may be because in Asia the school system is stricter and wants more from students than the United States. Lately, the U.S. has been lacking compared to Asia.
The United States
The global education rating list rates the U.S. as one of the top ten countries based on test scores alone as reported by the World Population Review. Although, Arkansas state university says the U.S. is in the middle of the list. According to U.S. News, the United States is one of the top five countries to go for education because we are home to eight out of the top ten global universities.
