I must note that when increasing the refresh rate of the monitor
to 200Hz the GTX 1060 used 8% more vram and increased in
temperature by 12° Compared to only 3% more vram usage and
5° when gaming at 144Hz. No matter which setting you choose
to game at, this monitor with its G-Sync capabilities, made the
games I tested look fantastic and I would highly recommend
this monitor for anyone who is looking to take their gaming
and gaming set up to the next level.
Besides gaming I also tested this monitor’s ability in day-to-
day activities and video editing. On a normal day of checking
emails and word processing this screen is over-kill, it looks
amazing while doing it, but not completely practical. However,
if you are the type of person that likes multiple windows open
at any given time then this monitor’s screen real-estate becomes
invaluable, with its widescreen being able to view windows at a
more manageable size than on a normal 27” screen.
We also tested this monitor on how well it could be used as
a design screen and even designed parts of this issue on it. It
provided clear visuals and we were able to produce content on
it without any issue but, it was noted that due to its ultrawide
aspect ratio the screen was slightly shallower in height than
expected.
Video editing is again where this monitor comes into its own,
you’re able to view imported content perfectly and scroll
though a timeline with ease and have enough space to view the
timeline preview footage, all on one screen without it feeling
cramped or feel as if you are making do. We tested this on
Adobe Premiere, HitFilm and various other video editors and
came to the same verdict.
Conclusion
The Acer Predator Z301CT is a monitor designed for the best
gaming experience possible, with its 144 / 200 Hz refresh rate
and only 4ms response time, I believe this monitor provides
the ultimate gaming experience for any gamer seeking that
immersive experience. Build quality is outstanding and the
added benefit of built-in Tobii eye tracking makes this display
an amazing option to consider. Also, its ability to be used
outside of gaming as mentioned above, I cannot recommend
this monitor enough – Its simply astonishing!
This immersive feeling is produced by the screens 1800R
curvature and 16.7 Million colours support along with its
144Hz refresh rate delivering amazing in-game performance.
I tested the screen refresh rate in many AAA titles such as
Battlefield 1, Rainbow Six Siege and many other FPS games and
saw an increase in performance of over 20% That is a massive
difference compared to the standard 60Hz monitors I had been
using previously. We also see the introduction of Tobii eye
tracking technology, which once set up, delivers outstanding
results and is a welcomed add-on to any gameplay.
The fun does not stop there, an overclock mode is available
via the simple and user friendly built-in monitor menu, which
will increase the refresh rate to 200Hz! This looked and felt
amazing and really must be seen to be believed, but take my
word for it, it was truly stunning.
