2018-2019 BGGA END OF YEAR AWARDS ACADEMICS CITIZENSHIP Academic excellence is based on academic grades, level of classes and overall the highest academic achievers at BGGA. The Citizenship Award is given to the students who made a significant contribution to BGGA and local community. They made a difference within our student body through their care and concern for others and have been an excellent example to their peer group and inspired all of us by their contribution. Academic Excellence: Teagan Devoe Teagan has had an ¬outstanding two years at MVA. She is an exemplary scholar who has completed her senior year with three AP courses. Teagan was Summa Cum Laude all four quarters (4.0+), is a 2nd year BGGA student and will be attending University of Hartford. Academic Excellence: Daniel Song Daniel Song is of the highest academic pedigree. He has taken all AP courses in subjects like chemistry and macroeconomics and maintained a very high GPA. Daniel was chosen to deliver the Salutatorian speech at Montverde Academy graduation. This means he ranks 2nd in a class of 272 seniors. He is a 4th year student at BGGA heading to Leigh University. The Most Improved Academic Award is also based on grades but focused on grade improvement throughout the year. These students have achieved incredible results with concerted effort, a great deal of hard work and strong academic focus this year. Academic Improvement: Jess Jeon Jess has had many hours of tutoring this year. She has worked hard on her English and improved her grades by over 100% this quarter. We are so proud of this first year student from South Korea. Academic Improvement: Sam Duan Sam receives this award due to his great effort and hard work, both on and off the golf course. He has a great attitude and is of strong character. Sam is graduating senior who is taking a gap year and returning to us for 2019-2020 as a Post Grad. 12 THE GATE | JUNE 2019 Citizenship: Sophia Tejeda Sophia receives this distinction, as she is an outstanding ambassador, an example to her peers and worked hard to make a difference wherever she was and in whatever she was doing. Citizenship: Niels Schmidlin Niels is well like by his peers, teachers and the BGGA staff. He tried so hard to be an ambassador in the past, but was not old enough. However he stepped up this year in his junior year and 3rd year student at BGGA. Niels is kind, thoughtful and conscientious. He is always ready to help others and is an inspiration to those around him. We will miss him very much next year as he returns to home for his final year of high school in Switzerland. CHARACTER The character award is given by all staff to the student who exemplifies character in all that they do. Character is described in many ways, but it is essentially discipline, integrity, kindness, and empathy – doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reasons. Character: Sarah Muller Sarah receives this distinction as a first year student at BGGA and a rising senior. She has inspired us all by her strength of character and her standards of excellence. Character: Suviir Dhalla Suviir has been described as “awesome and funny” by his coaches and house parents. Anything that needs to be done, he is the first one to volunteer. He consistently demonstrates
