Float tube fishing is a blast, just a great way to enjoy a day on the water. If you are new to the sport you will have questions. Heck even if you are not so new you might still have questions. One of the more common questions some people have is “kicking” what is the best or most efficient kick. Truly I believe that this is somewhat of a personal issue, please let me explain. They way I kick might not work as well for you, and this can be because of many different factor ie; different, fins, different tubes, and maybe different muscle development. Of course to know what works best for you trial and error are the only way. But when it comes to what kick works best, well let's just say there is no one kick that works best. More or less it is about using the right method in the right situation. We will take some time breaking down the different kicking techniques for different situations, and giving you the reader a chance to maybe find a new kick method. With some time and practice on the water you might be able to master a few different kicking methods, which will lead to a better time spent fishing on the water.

The long kick: The long kick is a simple but very useful style of kick that is needed for long distance kicks. If you

are trying to reach the sweet spot on the other side of your fishing hole, or you need to get of the water in a rush this is the kick for you. To achieve this you need to lean back in your seat as far as you can. This allows you to utilize your legs for a long stroke. No speed is needed here simple keep a steady pace. By keeping a steady pace and not working to hard you will minimize fatigue as well as the dreaded muscle cramps.

The speed kick; That right the speed kick, no aspect of this sport is fast but there is a need from time to time to move quick. Weather it is to get out of the way of a wayward boat, beating your friend to the sweet spot, or you sprung a leak and you need to get off the water now, use the speed kick.
