The same applies to every aspect of life. God gives you strength for one day. Don’t try to overwork or stress yourself. The storms will come and times, where you get overburdened, will come. In those times don’t just remember that God’s offer of grace is constant – run to him and receive fuel. Psalm 121 comes to mind as I write this. David quipped, “I lift my eyes up to the hills. Where does my help come from?”. Sometimes when I get overwhelmed and stressed, I go outside and find the closest hill on the horizon then I chorus the answer with David, MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD. THE MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH. Probably you theoretically know God is the creator and ‘sustainer’ and omnipotent – most of us do. But in the practical, you trust your strength. Well this is me advising you every day to acknowledge where your strength comes from and ask God for strength – you don’t need depression to awaken your awareness. In Isaiah 40 verse 29-31, Isaiah makes a stunning declaration as he reminds Israel of Gods omnipotence. He says, He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. NIV He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon GOD get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don't get tired, they walk and don't lag behind. MSG Isaiah shakes the tables here. Even Young people will get tired and fall with all their energy reserves which include you and me lest we hope in the lord. Isaiah boldly separates the weak and the strong here wheth- er young or old on the defining factor of hoping in the lord. And those who hope in God will be like eagles. They will run and not tire. This is a life hack for productivity. Want results – work hard. Want optimum never-ending results – wait on the lord! A song: Shoulders by for King and Country helps me remember this. The Chorus says, My Help comes from you. You’re right there pulling me through You carry my WEAKNESS, my SICKNESS, my BROKENESS all on your shoulders” 14
