the time they find best for them . This is expected to overcome the issue of individual differences among students taking the same subject . The students will have more responsibility for their learning and will be more actively involved in the teaching / learning process . The classroom will thus move from being teacher-centered to being student-centered . And the teacher will devote the classroom time to monitoring students ’ activities which are built on what students have acquired before coming to class from watching the online material . Mr . Timothy Parker , one of the ELC ’ s experienced teachers , has been chosen to record the videos for the different units of the four-book series adopted by the ELC for the Foundation Year students . Each lesson is turned into a PowerPoint presentation with audio comments by the teacher . The presentations are short , and limited between five and seven minutes . One chapter can have more than one short video , depending on the material to be covered . The videos are then uploaded on the Blackboard system and the E-Learning YouTube channel for the students to watch . So the teacher should announce to the students the video that they should view before the next lecture . And that will be their homework as the activities will take place inside the classroom as explained earlier . The E-Learning deanship has been organizing orientation sessions for the teaching staff of Taif University to explain this approach and invite the teachers to follow this new schema . Certificates of attendance are granted to the teachers who attend these sessions . A good number of the ELC staff in Hawiya already attended the first meeting and the prevailing attitude is that this blended learning approach could yield better results in spite of the challenges they encounter , namely the large groups and the structure of the classrooms that could hinder involving students in pair work and group work activities .
