EMPLOYMENT LAW - HAS THE
GOVERNMENT TRULY CUT THE RED TAPE?

On coming to power the Coalition
Government announced with much
fanfare that it would overhaul
employment law and reduce red
tape and regulatory burdens. So,
three years on, what has changed
such that farming businesses
across the UK might benefit?
There has been a raft of measures
aimed at shifting the balance of power
in the employee/employer relationship.
The changes include elements which
will better allow employers to address
those difficult situations or conflicts
which to date have been avoided, and
will reduce the likelihood of a claim
following. They are also designed to
promote early resolution when a claim
does arise, and cap compensatory
awards in certain cases. So what are
